Welcome to Velvet Hippo Games.
We are a new independent tabletop game studio building atmospheric games about dangerous choices, memorable characters, and stories that stay with players after the table is cleared.
Velvet Hippo Games is starting small, building carefully, and focusing on the kind of tabletop experiences we love most: games with tension, consequence, personality, and moments worth retelling.
This site is our new home. We’ll use it to share studio updates, development notes, playtest news, project announcements, and behind-the-scenes looks at what we are making.
What We Care About
We want to make games where the table tells stories no one could have fully planned.
The best moments are often messy: a risky choice that barely works, a bad deal that comes due later, a character who survives long enough to matter, a victory that costs too much, or a plan that falls apart in a way everyone remembers.
That is the space Velvet Hippo Games is interested in: rules that create pressure, worlds with depth, and players making decisions they will talk about afterward.
Meet the Team
Velvet Hippo Games is being built by a small team with a shared love for tabletop games, strange worlds, strong visual identity, and player-driven stories.
Josh Hansen - Creative Director
Josh guides worldbuilding, tone, lore, creative direction, and the overall identity of Velvet Hippo Games projects.
Rebecca “Bex” Scott - Social Media Director
Bex leads the studio’s social media strategy, public-facing communication, content planning, and audience growth.
Chanselor Santo - Physical Product Director
Chanselor leads physical product planning, fabrication direction, tabletop components, prototypes, materials, and production execution.
Danielle Nogales - Social Media Manager
Danielle supports studio social media, community communication, content scheduling, outreach, and player-facing updates.
Our First Project
Our first tabletop project is currently in development.
We are not ready to share everything yet, but we can say this: it is a dark miniatures campaign game built around risk, consequence, dangerous jobs, and crews that change over time.
More details will come as the project develops.
